The Artisans’ Guild Australia is a not for profit organisation that was formed to promote, develop and encourage the highest standards of skill and practice in the decorative arts and trades.
Formed in 1994 in Melbourne, the Guild covers a wide variety of different crafts which have a traditional history. Some are practised in their traditional forms, others by way of restoration; many have a contemporary aspect and reinterpretation.
Members share the common characteristics of practising skilled work developed as a career and pursuing it with an attitude of integrity, excellence and enthusiasm for sharing their knowledge with other artisans.
The Artisans’ Guild provides an environment for pursuing these aims and developing methods to keep skilled crafts alive and relevant for today and the future.
